Under16 A Replay

Cappa Geals 1-15 Clonoulty/Rossmore 2-12

In another epic encounter between Cappa and Clonoulty/Rossmore the game eventually had to be abandoned due to bad light at the start of the second period of extra time. As the old saying says it was a game of two halfs with Cappawhite Geals looking out of sorts in the 1st half even though they were aided by a strong breeze. We did not settle down and went in 10points down at half time on a score of 0-04 to 2-08. Our opponents were the 1st to score again in the 2nd half to put 11 points between the teams but a this stage our lads showed great passion and fight and with a few positional changes we began to claw our way back into the game. During this stage we did not panic and eventually drew back level at 1-14 to 2-11 as the game went into injury time. At this stage Clonoulty again scored a point to take the lead but with this teams never say die attitude we again dug deep and went upfield and won a penalty which was pointed to bring the game to extra time, Unfortunately the game had to be abandoned after one half of extra time due to bad light but from a spectator view it will be a pleasure to witness another encounter like this.

Our under 14 team were beaten in the County A final today in Boherlahen by Moycarkey/Borris. We were 1st to register a point but our opponents proved to be a very formidable team and had very stong players all over the pitch. They showed this with some very good scores and with 25minutes gone they had taken a commanding lead of 4-05 to 1-03. We were unable to bridge this score but our players have to be commended for not giving up and producing a excellent proformance for the remainder of the game where they matched their opponents in all areas. The club would like to thank the players management and Bord na nOg officers for all their hard work throughout the year and all the sucess they have brought to the club and supporters alike.

This A Final was also played out in Annacarty on Bank Holiday Monday last.. Cappawhite played their hearts out right up to the final whistle but still couldn’t bridge the 4 point gap that separated the teams coming to the end of this entertaining football final.

However representing the club in a west final at two grades at 12 level is a great sign of things to come from our underage teams. Well Done Cappawhite Gaels.

Cappawite U8 hurlers played their first blitz of the year last Saturday 11th April 2014 in Cashel following great attendances at training since January in the hall.
Playing 3 exciting matches against Aherlow, Cashel, & Golden they showed some excellent skills and determination.
Some of the talking points from the Aherlow game include a bullet of a goal from a free by Denis Collins to bring us right back into the game following  a free won by the hardworking Darragh Hayes. Patrick & Morgan O Connor & Ben Butler then bravely secured the backs and ensured we finshed this game strongly.
Against a strong Cashel team some great defending and blocking from Cian O Donoghue & Sean Hayes kept the sliothar moving up the field all the time. Eoin Ryan & Tommy Costello were then impressive in midfield holding it up and leading the tackling into the forwards.
We kept our best for the last match against Golden and the switch of Brian Gerard Buckely & Alex Cleary up into the forwards and Conor Gantley to midfield meant that the clearances from Conor McCarthy & Devin Coyle were resulting in some great team scores.
The panel for this first blitz some of whom were wearing the Cappawhite jersey with with great enthusiasm & pride for the first time was: Brian Gerard Buckely, Sean Hayes, Eoin Ryan, Conor McCarthy, , Alex Cleary, Ben Butler, Cian O Donoghue, Denis Collins, Tommy Costello, Conor Gantley, Darragh Hayes, Devin Coyle,  Morgan O Connor, Patrick O Connor.
Some more players also training with these but unavailable on the day will mean this group is going to keep enjoying their hurling and improving their skills for the year. Training continues on Monday nights for any new players who would like to join.
